Carl began his career as a marine electrician, completing a four year indentured apprenticeship before moving on to become an Electronic Design Engineer, Marine Commissioning Engineer, Service Supervisor and in the early 1990s reached the position of Development Director involved in the design of social alarms, control centres and telephone solutions, also sponsoring a research programme at Canterbury University into tele-medicine.
Carl joined Cirrus, CarelineUK’s sister company, in 2001 and with his wealth of technical knowledge and ability became the Technical Director in 2006. Through his technical role Carl has developed many strong operational partnerships, working closely with a lot of CarelineUK's customers and the change in role, to Head of CarelineUK last year, was a natural and beneficial move for himself and the company.
Carl intends to ensure the continued success of CarelineUK and build it into the most technically advanced and professional emergency call monitoring centre in the UK.
Hobbies:
At weekends Carl enjoys the open road on his motor bike which he spends many hours riding and then cleaning. Formula 1 is also a passion which Carl has followed for many years.
Interesting Facts:
When working for a domestic appliance manufacturer Carl once slept in a fridge to test the effectiveness of an electric blanket.
Through a joint design project with Thorne EMI Carl assisted in taking to market an innovative personal alarm which is now displayed in the National Science Museum.
